Promote To Vote Rally May, 29th, 2020

On Friday May 29th at 3:00, The Main Street intersection became a place of support and patriotism. “Everyone needs to vote, no matter what party” says Asad Khan, Owner and operator of The Pros & Khans Show and AsadKhanMediaLLC. Joining Khan in the Promote to Vote Rally included Matthew Kerner, Opportunity House Residents, Scott Preston, Laura Foulks, Lori Gould, and Beth Zickefoose Day. Randy Sanders also stopped by to show his support. “We were here to support all candidates, not just particularly Republican or Democratic candidates.” Says Khan “There are some phenomenal candidates running for both sides and some not so much. I wanted to make sure we show our support throughout all the drama currently taking place”.

Beth Zickefoose Day was one of the protesters during the evening. Beth showed great courage and pride showing her Trump “Make America Great Again” poster, and her Anti-Sheila Sines Poster as well. “I thought it was a great rally.” Says Day “It was especially nice because we had both political parties being represented which shows the open mindedness of the people attending the rally. Looking forward to doing it again!”

Scott Preston, a candidate running for the current 2020 City Council Election seat, also received high praise throughout the evening. “The opportunity to encourage citizens to vote is always gratifying.” Says Preston “Hopefully many will exercise their right. As a state our voting statistics are low as evidenced by our state response to the 2020. Please vote and please fill out your 2020 census form!” Throughout the event Preston showed his love for the town of Buckhannon, WV. Many Honked/waved and even rolled their windows down to show their support. Many rolled down their automobile window just to say “We love you Scott!”.

Many signs, both City and National, were being carried throughout the event. Virgil Miller For Sheriff, Re-Elect Pam Bucklew, Elect Shauna Jones, Elect Brittany Barlett, Re-Elect Randy Sanders, Elect Matthew Kerner, and many more were being flown during the evening. “There was not really much negative support. The majority of the time we just had fun.” Says Khan.

Signs Made

Laura Foulks, a Buckhannon Citizen, also came to not only show her support, but also to spin her signs! “I had a wonderful time yesterday, promoting voting here in Buckhannon, WV, speaking up for freedom by encouraging others in our community.” Says Foulks “Our votes are important to elect into office the type of people who will work towards our visions for the future. Those who will protect and enhance Buckhannon’s unique qualities - economic prosperity, resource management, efficient land use, local preparedness and a sense of place for everyone living here. Each and every individual, regardless of his or her religion, national origin, race, color or sexual orientation has the right to be included and feel connected to our community. We are diverse and we are loved, and together we can create peace.”

Also during the Promote To Vote event, some Buckhannon Citizens stopped and brought ice cold waters to help quench the thirst of some of the candidates on the hot day. “God Blessed us with a very beautiful day. We were prepared to be out no matter what, especially if it started pouring the rain down. Anyone can wave a sign on a sunny day, we were prepared to keep waving no matter what mother nature decided to throw at us.” Says Khan.

Matthew Kerner, Head owner and operator of Opportunity House and City Council Candidate, brought along some of his residents along with himself to show their support.

During the evening many honked and showed their support for the candidates. Some even asked questions to the candidates to see what they stood for. The event was broadcasted periodically on “The Pros & Khans Show” Facebook page to encourage people to come out and show their support. The rally was held approximately 158.90 feet from a polling place, making it completely legal with West Virginia State Code.
