By: Dakota Flanagan This election year many voters find themselves in a tough position, choosing the lesser of two evils.
But what if I told you mainstream media is censoring at least two other parties?
The republican and democrat parties are guaranteed a spot on the ballot, but for one woman it has been an uphill battle to appear on all 50 states ballots.
Who is Dr. Jo Jorgensen?
Dr. Jo Jorgensen is the right leaning libertarian presidential candidate in the 2020 elections, and was the nominee for vice president as the running mate of Harry Browne in 1996.
She graduated from Baylor University in 1979 with a B.S in Psychology, followed by a Masters in Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1980.
She later received a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Clemson University in 2002, she would move on to teach psychology at the very same university for several years before focusing on politics.
Real change for real people
Despite having won the spot for libertarian candidate, Dr. Jo Jorgensen continues to jump hurdles to be heard, it is said a candidate must have 15% popularity in polls to debate.
Open any popular presidential poll and you will find a similarity across the board... only democrat and republican candidates are present. How can she get 15% on polls she is consistently absent from?
Her campaign has launched the “let her speak” movement to spread awareness to the discrimination of third-party candidates, but why is this necessary?
The united states are falling prey to a bipartisanship control, the media just won't cover third party candidates and its extremely damaging to our democracy that supports many options for the people.
Her Ideals
Dr. Jo Jorgensen is pro small government she believes that more government interference actually means less freedom, here are some of her political positions on modern issues.
She supports an open market in healthcare, this would create a competitive market in medicine and thus an incentive for meeting the consumers demand for lower prices in healthcare.
Jorgensen supports replacing the social security system with individual retirement accounts, allowing people to decide their own retirement plans.
The Dr. Also opposes the costly war on drugs and instead supports decriminalization and rehabilitation and that a flourishing economy would ease the depression that turns people to drugs.
She is in support of armed neutrality and the withdraw of troops abroad.
The economic view of Jo includes cutting government spending to ease our taxes, and she supports immigration as she believes the blending of cultures is beneficial to our economy.
Jo Jorgensen believes that wearing a mask as a preventive is an individual liberty and that restrictions such as stay-at-home orders are an assault on our liberties.
